Now we will get to explaining how the Top-up and Bonus Round phases work.

Top-up Phase

The Top-up Phase is the second phase, in which you collect Multipliers for the Bonus round. The game begins with several ballons that are released when you tap the TOP UP button. Between 3 and 6 ballons are released, flying into the air. Ballons are sorted into 4 colours, and they all fly towards the 4 finish lines (each line corresponding to one balloon colour). Some ballons pop, while others reach the destination. All carry Multiplier values randomly assigned. For a ballon Multiplier to count, it must land onto a finish line corresponding to its colour – only then its value is added to the tally. In the end, you get a tally for each colour. These values are the Multiplier payouts you get in the Bonus Round. you play the round of Top up while you wait for the Bonus round to begin. Once it’s time, you will automatically be transferred to the Bonus Round.

The Bonus Round Phase

In the bonus round, the live game show begins. The real host stands beside a ball drawing machine containing balls. Balls come in 4 colours. Now, when the draw begins, you will also see 4 hot air ballons (again, in the same colours as the balls – yellow, green, red, and purple). Above them are finish lines, each with a Multiplier value you aim to win.

When the host draws the balls, the colour of the drawn ball indicates which ballon will move up by 1 position. It’s a race of course, and it’s where the game got its name. Hot air ballons race toward their respective finish lines, each fuelled by the ball draw. The first balloon to reach its finish line wins. You get the payout that waits atop the finish line.

When this part of the round ends, you get back to the beginning – the Qualification Phase again.

OUR EXPERIENCE PLAYING BALLOON RACE

The game is not out yet, so we did not have the chance to see it in real action. Still, from what we’ve seen, the game is poised to become a huge hit for Evolution. It’s vibrant, fun, and playful – all the while delivering huge potential to players who enjoy this type of games. Moreover, it’s an excellent way to segue into live slots from live game shows, as gameplay easily flows from slot to live game show between phases.
